Unique Identity & Branding

Creating a unique identity in this graphics design industry...

Importance of creating a unique identity and establishing brand can be a critical factor with having a corporate identity and even personal identity. Some factors put into this is your brand name, logo, letterhead, business cards, packaging, etc. First impression towards a client and also to the general public should be created uniquely, establishing your identity in a unique manner can either make it or break it as getting new business. If you have a weak, unorganized or even plain out messy brand name, logo; you can leave the impression that you don't know what your doing in this industry. Clients are looking for an identity with a strong, professional designer which they can feel confident doing business with. It goes hand in hand. Creating a logo or a brand name is something that you want everyone to remember. When you see a light teal/blue color, you think of Tiffany & Co. When you see yellow and red, you'll most likely be thinking about McDonalds. When you see an apple on a laptop or computer you think of Apple Computers. Building a strong identity can brand you with what you offer as a company and what reputation you want to build. Having a weak logo or brand name, you can surely assure that you will have a decline in your reputation.

Another factor that you should look at is your personal identity, if you have a lifestyle which can be frowned upon; you will most likely not get any clients or even get a job. Now a days we have these corporations that do in depth research in who they hire as an employee, that they even go on networking website and even blogging website and search the future hire. I doubt that a reputable company would hire an individual that markets him or herself on a networking website as an avid drinker or a how nymphomatic they are; I sure wouldn't. So now we have some corporate CEO's that get their little employees to research the individuals that are requesting a position with their company, and if you have an identity of having a slavish lifestyle, you will, 9 times out of 10 will not get hired. So watch out what your putting on these networking and blogging websites. What needs to be done is networking and blogging items that can be useful towards your career, and building that reputation for yourself rather than writing rubish.
